CAT2 is a knowledge-based online testing program delivered via a set of objective test questions
in a multiple-choice format. This online test enables participants to demonstrate competency on
fundamental technology concepts, computer productivity skills, and problem solving.
CAT2 is designed to test and provide certification for participants. This online testing program includes a study guide for
participants and a management system for test administrators.
Online Testing: How Does CAT2 Work?
CAT2 is driven by TFI’s proprietary online testing system, E-SESS . This 96-question multiple-choice
online test is online based for both test participants and the test administrators. Administrators
enroll test participants, participants complete the online test, and the system automatically calculates
test scores and provides results to program administrators. Online testing is that easy!
Standards
CAT2 is the second testing program in a suite of online testing and online learning programs developed
by TFI. Like CAT1, this test is based on six standards and 24 objectives. CAT2
tests and educates participants in 24 knowledge areas essential for demonstrating
computer and technological literacy. The 24 areas are embedded within these six
computer and technology standards:
- Identify and apply fundamental computer concepts and skills
- Identify and employ computer hardware and technological terminology
- Assess and employ productivity tools
- Access and exchange information with technology
- Apply information acquisition and problem-solving tools and skills
- Identify and evaluate the impact of technology on social, ethical, and human issues
CAT2 Online Test
CAT2 tests participants’ knowledge of technology and basic computer information. The online
test determines proficiency of the six standards underpinning technological literacy. The
test component is not timed and can be taken any time at any place with an Internet
connection.
CAT2 Learning Program
CAT2 includes a detailed study guide correlated to the standards and objectives guiding the test.
An extensive glossary provides additional online learning opportunities and clarification of computer and
technological terminology.
CAT2 Online Certification
Successful completion of the CAT2 test results in certification by TFI. To be eligible for
certification, mastery of each objective is required. Mastery is defined as correctly responding to
three out of four items correlated to each objective.
The certificate includes a listing of the competencies achieved during the assessment process.
CAT2 Management
The CAT2 management system includes forms, reports, updates, and help files. From the
Administrative Menu, administrators can perform all functions necessary for operating the program
- from adding test participants to tracking their performance.
